100% Green’s “Green Gas” (also known as biogas) comes from a process called Anaerobic Digestion. Bacteria breaks down organic waste such as animal manure, wastewater biosolids, and food waste in the absence of oxygen.
Biogas is green from the source meaning no fossil-fuels need to be offset. Whilst ‘carbon neutral’ gas (i.e. offset gas) is not a bad thing, the benefit to the environment is not always immediate. Buying green gas directly supports a sustainable process that is kind to our planet.
Biogas is upgraded to become biomethane which can be put into the national grid and used to heat our homes in the same way that natural gas is. It’s how the gas is created that makes it ‘green’ and better for our planet.
100% Green is the only supplier in the UK to offer 100% green gas that comes exclusively from naturally made waste.
Protect our wildlife.
100% green gas does even more to protect our natural world.
The waste used to make 199% Green gas would have gone to landfill or been left to rot naturally — this would emit methane, a greenhouse gas far more harmful than CO2. The process of creating their gas, safely captures the methane, preventing it escaping into the atmosphere.
