VORTEX Wind Power
VORTEX is a small team based in Spain, in the middle of a 10-15 years journey of development and production from the idea to the end-product of a revolutionary way of wind power.

Vortex devices are quite simple in concept and allow for an easy manufacturing, installation and operation. There is a fixed base and a cylindrical mast that oscillates freely perpendicular to the wind direction, jointed by a carbon rod. Inner parts never collide with each other, but interact to generate electricity.

Power is produced from resonant vibrations when wind passes through the turbine and is deflected into vortices in a process called vortex shedding.

This technology might replace previous solar electricity installations, such as low-power systems, off-grid generation, autonomous systems, and increase the distributed generation of electricity.

The turbines have a fixed base and a cylindrical mast that oscillates freely perpendicular to the wind direction, jointed by a carbon rod. Inner parts never collide with each other but interact to generate electricity.

The design seeks to overcome perceived issues related to rotary wind turbines such as maintenance, amortization, noise, birds, environmental impact, logistics, and visual aspects. Vortex generators have a smaller carbon  footprint and use fewer raw materials compared to rotary wind turbines of the same height.

VORTEX generators have a low centre of gravity that allows for small foundation dimensions and a very low wake turbulence, so several Vortex generators can fit in the same area as one rotary turbine, improving on the lower energy density per hectare that wind turbines usually achieve.  VORTEX does not aim to compete with the wind turbine industry but to offer a small wind turbine alternative for the end-consumer market and low-power systems, markets served poorly or not at all by larger-scale wind power.
